FASTENER POLAND® Meeting Point for Fastener Industry in Central Europe

FASTENER POLAND® Meeting Point for Fastener Industry in Central Europe

1. Could you give us a brief information about your company?

“Targi w Krakowie” is the largest organiser of fairs and congresses in southern Poland and the third largest company of that type in Poland in general, boasting over twenty years of experience. For years, we have been organising the most important events in many industries. We are distinguished by the fact that we ourselves are looking for niches on the fair market and create unique events that no one else organises.

FASTENER POLAND® is a case in point. We have one of the most modern trade fair and congress facilities in Poland. There are practically no technical limitations for us – we successfully organise exhibitions, where huge machines, often weighing several tons, are presented in operation. Our team also plays a very important role: the exhibitors praise the perfect organisation and professional service. A big advantage for us is also the magical atmosphere of the city of Krakow. People want to come here and have a nice time during their business trips.

2. Can you tell us about the Polish fastener industry, its potential and its advantages?

Fastener business in Poland is growing very fast, as is the industry in Central Europe in general. Poland is an important supply chain link for factories in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Baltic Countries (Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia) and Ukraine. But the most important markets for the Polish fastener business are Germany and United Kingdom. Almost 40% of the fasteners exported from Poland go to Germany. Domestic demand is very important as well. For the next 7 years, domestic demand should double. At this moment, domestic demand is more than EUR 620 million and export – over EUR 360 million. The biggest advantage of the Polish fastener industry is that new factories use latest solutions in production processes. Costs are also of importance, salaries in Poland are 3 times lower compared with the same positions in France or Germany.

3. How did the idea of organising the Fastener fair in Poland first originate?

Only two years ago, representatives of this fast-growing sector of the industry did not have their own meeting place in this part of Europe. “Targi w Krakowie” together with ELAMED, the publisher of FASTENER magazine, decided to change it. This turned out to be an instant hit. The first edition of the fair met the expectations of even the most demanding guests. Initially, we assumed that the first edition would be successful if 30 exhibitors came to Krakow. Eventually, the list included 110 positions! This is probably the best testimony to the great interest of both exhibitors and visitors in our fasteners fair. And from the very first edition at that!

4. What are the challenges you are

experiencing during the organisation? What kind of innovations are you planning for the 3rd edition of FASTENER POLAND®?

The FASTENER POLAND® trade fair is dynamically growing from year to year. We have more and more exhibitors and increasing numbers of visitors. And the biggest challenge is meeting the expectations of both groups 100%. Everyone has to leave the fair satisfied: with the discussions they had, new contacts, contracts they signed. From year to year, we raise the bar ever higher, because we assume that with each edition of the fair, its formula should be made more attractive. It will be no different this year as well. It’s too early to talk about details for now. I strongly encourage you to follow the www.fastenerpoland.pl website and the FASTENER POLAND® profile on Facebook, where we will keep you up to date with the latest news regarding the agenda.

5. How did the first two exhibitions contribute to the Polish Fastener Industry?

Usually, during FASTENER POLAND®, exhibitors have the opportunity to meet with their Clients and find new potential ones. Polish companies take advantage of the fact that a lot of foreign guests come to the fair. On the other hand, foreign companies have the opportunity to meet all the most important representatives of the Polish fasteners industry in person in one place. Taking into account the last year’s edition, as many as 2/3 of the exhibitors are foreign companies, e.g. from the Czech Republic, China, Denmark, France, Spain, India, South Korea, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Italy, USA and Great Britain. The statistics for visitors are also impressive: 4,000 people visited the FASTENER POLAND® Fair, 1/3 of whom are guests from abroad – from the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, even Singapore. This confirms that our trade fair is growing in strength and is gaining international recognition.

6. Which countries are most interested in the fair and which product groups are the most attractive to visitors?

Most visitors come from our neighbouring countries: the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia and Ukraine. There is also significant presence of guests from the United Kingdom and Italy. FASTENER POLAND® wants to become a default meeting point for all the most important people in the fastener business in Central Europe. Usually, they look for new suppliers for every kind of fasteners, but we can see that the first two editions had a large representation of the companies involved in the metal sheet fasteners sector (self clinchings, rivetting and screwing). But at FASTENER POLAND® you can find not only fasteners but also tooling, software or new tools.

7. What do you want to tell the companies that want to invest in Poland, what suggestions or advice can you give them?

Until 2015, finding good people to work for decent money in Poland was not a problem. Currently, unemployment rates in Poland are very low, so the largest problem for every big investment is to find good employees. You have to offer not only a good salary but also some benefits. The same problem can be seen in the fastener business. Currently, technical education (secondary school) is not the first choice for many young people, so there is a knowledge gap between older and younger staff. If the factories want to find good staff – they need to train them themselves.
